Looking Back, Looking Forward

Kristin Meyer |

Good afternoon and Happy 2023!

I trust that you had a great holiday season.  I’m sure many of you WNY-ers were buried in snow!  Or at least, for once, the Northtown-ers! I was stuck in Chicago, but safe and warm with family.

As we begin the New Year, I’m reaching out for your feedback on topics you may be interested in learning more about.  As many of you know (and thank you to those who participate), I host educational and recreational events throughout the year for all clients of Rivercrest Financial. These resourceful events are part of the value I provide as your financial advisor. My goal with these events is to create awareness, educate you on important topics and current events, and most importantly, deepen our relationship. These events have been an incredible way to grow your education as you build and maintain your wealth. Additionally, many of you have found this as a great opportunity to introduce a family member or friend to me and many of my firm’s offerings to helping people secure their financial future.

Below is a quick recap of the events I hosted in 2022:

  • Economic & Market Update at Brickyard Brewery (February)
  • Simple Healthy Meals with Nutritionist Diane Christopher (February)
  • Estate Planning with attorneys Restaino & Reddien at Webster Bistro (March)
  • Mid-Year Market Update and Ice Cream Social at Platters Chocolates (August)
  • Rivercrest Financial Open House and Happy Hour for Lewiston Jazz Fest (August)
  • Buffalo Bisons Game – Client Referral Thank You Event (September)

I would also like to highlight some client achievements in my practice:

  • A few of you transitioned to retirement and we developed a retirement income strategy working through your pension options and Social Security.
  • Some of you inherited assets and we developed an investment strategy along with tax planning on spending and reallocating these assets.
  • For those of you who changed jobs, we worked together to consolidate retirement accounts and understand the offerings from your new employer.
  • New York State employees have many pension options and we worked together to determine if a private life insurance policy offered cost savings and liquidity options versus electing the survivor benefit option.
  • I helped many of you reduce your income tax liability(ies) through gifting of your requirement minimum distribution (RMD) to organizations you care about.

While not every client circumstance was rosy, there were some tough times I was able to help clients through:

  • With aging loved ones, we collaborated on the use of assets to cover nursing home expenses and sought services with long-term care coverage to protect your assets and the legacy you aim to provide for your heirs.
  • As our loved ones transitioned to the after-life, I helped a few surviving spouses organize finances, consolidate accounts, and create income strategies.

If this list happens to trigger a thought of someone important in your life with whom can benefit from the work I do, I am accepting on new clients and would be happy to reach out to them. It’s a new year, what a better time. My promise to you is give your introductions the time they deserve to explore their options. If it’s a mutual fit, I’ll gladly offer my services. At the very least, I will provide your introductions with value in our time together.

As always, I appreciate your trust and confidence in me to help you
